Review Methodology
We assess pans against a fixed set of criteria — material and coating, dimensions and capacity, heat and browning behaviour, food release, warping resistance, handling, cleaning, temperature limit, storage, durability, price-to-value, and fitness for specific uses — and we state which of those are based on documentation versus testing.
Evidence types
Every assessment is built from one or more of these, and we say which:

Assessment criteria
- Material and coating — what the pan is made of and what, if anything, coats it
- Cavity dimensions and capacity — top and base diameter, depth, volume
- Overall dimensions — footprint, height, and oven fit
- Heat distribution characteristics — how evenly the material carries heat, from its thermal properties and gauge
- Browning potential — from finish colour and material, not a scored bake unless tested
- Food release — coating, surface texture, and material behaviour; liners and greasing as mitigations
- Warping resistance — from gauge, material, and construction; manufacturer claims attributed as such
- Ease of handling — rim, grip, and weight
- Rim and grip design — extended rims, tabs, rolled edges
- Cleaning requirements — hand wash vs dishwasher per the manufacturer, and residue behaviour
- Oven temperature limit — for uncoated all-metal pans, some manufacturers may not specify a limit within typical home-oven temperatures. Coatings, finishes, handles and construction can impose lower limits, so we follow the instructions for the exact pan. For silicone we use the manufacturer’s stated figure.
- Storage footprint — rigid vs flexible, stackable
- Durability — coating longevity, corrosion, and material lifespan expectations
- Price-to-value — assessed qualitatively; we do not publish prices
- Suitability for specific uses — egg bites, toaster ovens, high-volume batch baking
What we will not do
We do not fabricate product testing, photographs, measurements, baking results, durability results, personal experience, author credentials, product ratings, customer ratings, review counts, or sales figures. If we have not done something, we do not claim it.
Verification dates
Where a page lists specific product specifications, it carries the date those specifications were checked against the source. Specifications can change between production runs; always confirm against the current manufacturer listing.
