Aluminized steel is steel with an aluminium-silicon layer bonded to it, combining steel’s stiffness with aluminium’s heat transfer. USA Pan uses a corrugated pattern it says adds rigidity and helps air circulate, and rolls a reinforced steel wire into the rim. The coating is a silicone layer USA Pan describes as safe for food contact; the retail listing adds PTFE-, PFOA- and BPA-free.

Cavity count and size

A 24-well pan. USA Pan lists each cavity as approximately 2 x 1.5 x 1 in; the Amazon listing states a smaller 1.88 x 1.25 x 0.88 in. Overall size is not on the manufacturer page — retailers list around 15.75 x 11.1 in.

Oven fit

A 24-cup mini pan is roughly the footprint of a quarter sheet. It fits a standard 30-inch oven but not most toaster ovens. Leave room around the pan for air flow.

Expected baking characteristics

In otherwise comparable designs, aluminized steel transfers oven heat into batter more readily than silicone, so mini muffins tend to set and colour on a predictable schedule. A light-finished metal pan is often more forgiving of bottom browning than a dark nonstick one over the short mini-muffin bake. Food-release considerations

The light silicone coating helps with release but is not as slick as a thick PTFE nonstick.
